Is a Dog Harness Better Than a Collar?
If your dog is impeccably behaved, carry on using your collar and lead.
We meet lots of dogs and it’s amazing how many we see that are not in a correctly fitting harness, a harness that could be improved upon or one that’s just plain old and worn out. It’s easy to wriggle out of an ill-fitting harness and it can even cause sores.
At My Bestie Pets we offer a ‘one to one’ fitting service for harnesses, collars and clothing.
We also often hear ‘we bought it off the internet' or 'we didn't have the dog with us' and 'it doesn’t really fit properly even though we measured the dog’.
We encourage you to bring your dog in (and we love seeing them!).
Harnesses discourage pulling with strong willed or larger dogs and offers you the confidence of better control, especially important when you’re battling with an artful collar Houdini.
Harnesses provide safety on busy roads, in crowds and is also much kinder on the handler’s arms and back.
Small dogs and brachycephalic breeds (eg pugs, boxers and frenchies) can be prone to injury from tugging on the leash. A harness disperses pressure over a larger area of the dog’s body, reducing strain on their neck and back (and yours).
If your dog is getting elderly and needs a little assistance standing after lying down or sitting, one of our harnesses with a built-in handle can pull them up gently, whilst cradling the body thus avoiding pain and discomfort for you both.
We have a huge selection of harnesses to suit all budgets, sartorial preference and most importantly we can discuss what you wish to achieve from your harness in type, features and style.
We pride ourselves in having a good selection of basic, fashion and high performance brands.
Having the correct harness can be a life changing experience for your beloved pet and you.
